YIFY – Official Home of YTS Torrents and HD Movie Downloads
YIFY—often recognized under the modern name YTS—has long been a cornerstone in the torrenting world. Renowned for its ability to deliver high-quality movies in compact file sizes, YIFY transformed digital entertainment access for millions of users around the globe. Its blend of speed, quality, and simplicity made it one of the most trusted sources for HD films.
The Origin and Rise of YIFY Movies
Founded in 2010 by Yiftach Swery, a computer science student from New Zealand, YIFY started with a simple but groundbreaking mission—compress high-definition movies into smaller, efficient files without losing visual quality. This innovation made movie downloading faster and more accessible, especially for users with limited internet speed or storage space. Within a few years, YIFY became synonymous with affordable, high-quality entertainment through torrents.
The Fall of yify.to and Legal Battles
In 2015, YIFY’s operations came to a halt after a lawsuit from the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA). The original team disbanded following the shutdown, but YIFY’s concept lived on through numerous mirror sites and proxies. Although yify.to no longer exists, the YIFY legacy continued under the YTS name—keeping its trademark focus on efficient and HD-quality torrents.
YIFY vs. YTS – Understanding the Connection
While the two terms are used interchangeably, there are historical and branding differences between them. The comparison below summarizes these variations:
| Category | YIFY | YTS |
|---|---|---|
| Founder | Yiftach Swery | Same team (later rebranding) |
| Established | 2010 | 2014 (as rebranded identity) |
| Main Purpose | Provide HD movies in smaller file sizes | Continue YIFY’s concept under new branding |
| Status | Discontinued after 2015 lawsuit | Operated by proxies and clone domains |
| Recognition | Original name of the group | Modern identity used by torrent sites today |
In short, YIFY laid the foundation for what YTS represents today: streamlined, accessible HD movie downloads for the global torrenting community.
